Hyung Tae Kim -- The Man DoesA character designer for SoftMax, and now for NCsoft, HTK has been the man behind the characters in such games as Magna Carta, War of Genesis, Blade and Soul, and has also done a number of side projects for comics. He has worked with Canada's very own UDON Crew on their Street Figher comics, and has been featured in a multitude of art books. Unintentionally, he has also served to inspire a vast number of aspiring artists in the anime style. This is what he does, and here is how he does it: Sketch to Lineart Process by HTK.
As mentioned in HTK's biography, he has worked as character designer for video games the like of Magna Carta: Phantom of Avalanche, Magna Carta: Tears of Blood, War of Genesis Parts I and II, as well as for Blade and Soul. He has also done comic work for Capcom under UDON's guise. For having only a handful of official projects under his belt, HTK has a popularity that exceeds expectations. He is not only known in his home country of Korea, but around the world as well. His art has been published in books the Comickers Illustration series, Oxide Illustration series, Ragnarok Online Official Art Book, Range Murata's Robot Vol. 5, and APPLE vol. 1. As a professional character designer, there are few to no examples of his environment work. This may change, though, with the upcoming release of a personal artbook. He most recently worked on the MMORPG Blade and Soul, by NCsoft.
The Artwork Of HTK -- This is What he Does I'm not going to lie, the man loves drawing women. In fact, he's admitted to it in interviews! Fortunately for him, the games he works on thrives with cast full of females. Interesting in seeing more of his work? Click on the thumbnails below to see more of his work.
